FISH VOLUNTEERING All of my adult life, I have always enjoyed working with people and keeping myself busy. My profession was creating, maintaining, and managing programming staff while creating computer systems for companies around the world. For the twenty years, I have now been retired, volunteering has been my best enjoyment. Community volunteering and helping people with various types of needs have been very satisfying activities.
My volunteer activities have included the AARP free Income Tax Service, computerizing data for the Volunteer Center of Sonoma, managing participants sign-up and entry fees for The Human Race, developing and managing emergency preparation teams (COPE) for many communities, organizing and managing the Sonoma County Homeowners and Renters Association program. And, especially, my volunteer work for many years at FISH as the door person and a board member have been my number one participation in a volunteer activity.
It was very satisfying to me to serve and talk to people requesting food and showing their appreciation for FISH. And there have even been recipients who say they purposely came on Tuesdays when I was the person who served them and responded to any questions or needs they might have. FISH is the place to enjoy volunteering. Sue Hattendorf
